Wake Up Jamie began as a series of YouTube videos made in frontwoman Jessa Joyce’s high school bedroom. The current iteration of the band took form in 2021, when bassist Pippa Ross and lead guitarist Chris James joined Joyce and her frequent collaborators, vocalist Hailey Christine and drummer Jeremiah Mack (of Jeremiah Mack & the Shark Attack). Since then, the band has cultivated a sound described by the musicians themselves as “glam emo,” taking elements of bombastic 80s rock akin to Def Leppard and Bon Jovi and combining it with sensitive, diaristic lyrics, drawing influence from bands like Jimmy Eat World and songwriters like Taylor Swift.
